Feeling Overlooked?

When I am feeling low, and not like myself I feel the need to write.

Not only write, but I feel the need to encourage others to do exactly what I am doing at this moment; PUSH THROUGH.

These past few days for me have been rough internally. I’ve been battling with somethings internally, and  of course I’ve prayed, read uplifting scriptures, spoke with my husband, and did everything I logically would do any other time; however, I am still feeling blah. I have expressed many times before in my other blogs how writing in this blog, and just writing by itself has helped free me from my own thoughts, and from the worlds thoughts of me. This blog today will be a little bit of everything; transparency at its finest, and also a lot of encouragement for myself and for whomever may be feeling the same way I feel.

STORY TIME!!

On August 26, 2019, I was enrolled into a Basic Leadership Course. I need this course in order to get promoted to sergeant. This is a huge deal because this is all happening right now by the grace of God. I have only been enlisted in the United States Army for two years and four months, and I will be getting pinned Sergeant before my three-year marking. All I’m saying is this is Gods unmerited favor over my life. People told me that I would not make it a day living this Army life. Even during this course people overlooked me, made me feel less than, and made me feel like this just wasn’t for me, but I know this is indeed for me. I am made for this, built for this, and just so much more. The Lord is going to use me in this area and I believe that is why he’s  promoting me so suddenly. I do not doubt God nor his reasonings.

Are you feeling overlooked, or have you ever felt overlooked?

If so, do not worry because you are not alone. I feel overlooked being in the military. As a woman in the Army I feel like I have to go beyond my limits, and over the max to be viewed or looked at as a superior Soldier/leader, but the holy spirit keeps whispering to me “remember who called you.” I have to constantly remind myself that I am serving the Lord not man; I am working for the Lord not man. The word says “whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord not human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24).  I literally have this scripture written down, folded up, and in the front pocket of my uniform because It’s a constant reminder for me.

****Something for you & your situation —— You do not have to prove yourself to anyone, but GOD. DO NOT over work yourself for the praises from people. Receive your rewards from the Lord. He promotes, rewards, and uplifts differently than the people of this world. God is who you are working for!!!!!!!!! ********

I swear I love the book of David so much because there are so many lessons, teachings, and wise nuggets that we can take away from it and apply to our lives. David was relatable for me though, and If you’ve ever felt overlooked or are feeling overlooked you will be able to relate to him as well. In the very beginning of Davids walk with Christ he was overlooked by his own father.

A prophet by the name of Samuel was looking for the next man to anoint King, and Jesse (Davids father) brought all of his sons except David into the room to be chosen. You can find this story if you are interested in 1 Samuel 16.

David was literally handpicked by God; however, MAN (his earthly father) did not see him fit for king. In the word it says that Jesse said, “you don’t want David, he’s filthy and working.” This scripture was beautiful to me because it showed me Davids character. It showed me that David was hardworking even in the midst of being overlooked, bashed, and neglected. Then it says “when David showed up, his eyes were bright and he was good-looking.” That goes to show that Gods standards are not like man. Jesse basically tried to bury David in dirt, but God seen Davids heart.

Jesus made some people to lead, and when you are made to lead you have to stand out from the crowd. People are not going to like you; just deal with it. People are going to talk down on your name. They are going to try to understand you, but they can’t. They are going to try to steer you the opposite direction, and distract you. You just have to keep your heart and mind focused on the Lord.

When you are different, you need to run straight to God. Do not waste any time seriously, this world will try to categorize you, bully you, and make you feel less than, but God will not do that to you. He will use you like none other. Just let jesus mold you into the person he created you to be. Wherever you are in your life right now; there is purpose for you. Do not allow the enemy to make you feel like you are living in vain because you are not! You are exactly where the Lord needs you to be. The best seem to be the ones who get overlooked, but we also are the ones who get promoted quicker amongst our peers, so keep your head up!
